Joyce. By the surname of Tiong. Chemical Engineer, but not practising as one. PhD student in Chemistry, and wonders quite a bit on her future path. Procrastinator, fickle minded, and vows to do some physical exercises to keep herself healthy but always failed to do so. 22 going on 23 by the end of the year. Still loves to sleep, and is notorious of getting hungry easily. (over every hour or even more frequent than that)

Cardiff Day Trip

I think these photos are in my facebook for quite some time already, but I've not blogged about it yet. Sigh. Life of a working woman. hahaa..

If there's a place in Wales you want to go to, Cardiff will always be at the top of the list.

This pretty place is some sort of tourist attraction, surrounded by all the Welsh history and culture. and of course, Welsh (language and people) as well.

It was quite a sudden trip. So I did some very last minute homework by snapping the bus route into my camera as a reference.

Nah, bus route of Cardiff Central. Just part of it actually.. but since Cardiff is not really that big, we managed to find our ways without getting lost. :)

Whereever there's Joyce, there's always a case of embarrassment.

We were both at the train station, and I approached an officer to ask which direction is it to get to the city.

Then the officer said, "What? This IS the city."
Me, "But, isn't it like some distance away? That was what it says in the map."
Officer said, "No?! It's only 2 minutes away from here!"

*shyshyshy*

And since we were in Wales, we see weirdly spelled signboards everywhere.

There was once my boss showed me a Welsh CD, and I just went, "Okay, I don't understand a single thing written on the CD."
then my boss said, "Yea I know. Now you know how I feel when I was in Malaysia."

Oh well, at least they had English translated signboards as well. :)

There, it says Caedydd Canalog. Ya, not to say I really care how it's supposed to be pronounced.

Here's the supposedly two-minute walk from the station. It's cool to have a huge castle in the middle of the city. Like some sort of kingdom surrounded by shops and residences around.

Oh hai, thats me in front of Cardiff Castle btw. *shy*

And that's the castle on its own, without me blocking it.

Another angle of the castle.

And as you all know, Europeans love to erect statues everywhere, anywhere. Some to remember their child, some to remember their dogs, some just..dunnoforwhatreason really.

This statue behind me is the founder of NHS apparently. Not that it really interests me but since my mum gets her pension because of the presence of NHS, I should show a tiny wheeny bit of respect to him for starting it.

fyi, NHS = national health service.

I think my mum gets like 10 pounds or something for her pension. When she turns 60 that is. Haha..

That's me again, on the way to the University of Cardiff.

Here's Stonehenge-alike. In front of the museum.

And thats me, squating like a monkey beside the 'girl'.

No. I'm serious! The statue's name is 'GIRL'. How creative is that!!

Museum sounds really different in Welsh. I'll faint if I start reading it.

What are these called? Mammoth? Aw..I love the mammoth in Sesame street~ It's just so cute when it swings its tusk.

Me in front of Cardiff University. How nice to have a place like that right infront of your uni aye??

Lookie lookie!! I saw Daniel Radcliffe-alike statue!! With small birdie birdie too!!!!

SEE!!!

Ok, enough of hamsapness. Lets continue.

The Winter Sonata-ish path.

Me being a siao cha boh looking up at the clock tower.

I was then gradually turning into an angry-hungry person so we went off to the bay to grab some lunch.

Since we were both undecisive person, we ended up having the worst dim sum ever in my whole life. Sigh.

More photos.

Seagulls fighting over food with the ducks. Poor duckies. Seagulls sure win one lor, they can fly ma.. :(

Dunno what statue again. Dunno la, take up space oni. ceh. :P Probably Cardiff doesn't have enough nice sceneries for tourists like me to snap pictures kut.

Some random sculpture, me and sunset. Damn sad one lo that time. It was somewhere in January, the sun was setting at like..4pm?? And the weather was freaking cold. Not to mention we were at the bay that time. So that explains my attire.

Oh that sculpture is supposed to be a Mermaid or something. But it looked more like King Triton to me (Little Mermaid's father)

I is bored.

This is the erm.. Cardiff's Millenium Centre. For performing arts and all one. Was planning to get a train here to watch a show sometime. But I guess that won't be anytime soon cos me is broke now and is saving money desperately.

I know everyone's bored with my entry..and I guess everyone will ended up looking like this... after reading the whole entry.

Everybody say, Awwwwwwwwww... :)
